Trigger Point Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists to improve patients’ pain and mobility. The PT inserts a “dry” needle, one without medication or injection, into a “trigger point” of the muscle. A trigger point is a taut band of skeletal muscle that occurs when the body experiences pain or an injury. This tautness creates tension leading to pain and mobility limitations. During the dr...

During the dry needling treatment, a thin filament needle is inserted into this trigger point to elicit a ‘twitch response’. This twitch response ‘resets’ the neuromuscular system, allowing the trigger point to release tension. This improves pain levels and mobility in said area.

The needles used for this procedure are sterile and will be disposed of after each insertion. The PT will use gloves during this procedure to maintain a sterile environment.

Trigger Point Dry Needling is only performed by qualifying physical therapists who have been extensively trained by an accredited organization approved by the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy is used to treat acute and chronic conditions as well as post-activity recovery. Laser therapy is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological medical treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomodulation. Photons enter the tissue and interact with the cytochrome c complex within the mitochondria. This interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, decrease in pain, reduction in muscle spasm, and improved microcirculation to injured tissue. This treatment is FDA-cleared.

I was born and raised in Ramsey, NJ, and traveled down to South Carolina to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science at The University of South Carolina. After this, I returned back to the Northeast to complete my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Rutgers Newark. Throughout my undergrad and graduate schooling, I have had the pleasure of working with diverse populations, including post-stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputees, neurological conditions, and many orthopedic conditions. I also spent time working as a fitness instructor in group and 1-on-1 settings. As I began my career in physical therapy, I treated mainly orthopedic and post-surgical patients, however, I found my true passion is treating pelvic health conditions!

Worked in an outpatient physical therapy clinic for two years doing orthopedic and pelvic floor. Took continuing education courses in pelvic floor.

At Body Moksha, I am one of the licensed physical therapists.

I love helping patients get back to the things they love and surpass their prior level of function while improving their overall quality of life!

I love the ability to work one-on-one with a patient for the entire session and not have to divide my focus between 3-6 patients at a time.
